I am a lifelong student of the world, someone deeply curious about almost everything. I am particularly drawn to the beautiful, the strange, and to contradictions. Sharing that is a satisfying way to connect with others, and the true privilege of the artist. I see the Universe as a vastness of chaos and orderliness, and people’s private worlds as equally diverse and complex, so my artwork reflects a certain eclectic quality and versatile character. Creating is imposing order, making a series of decisions to arrive in at an interesting new order or even a beautiful new disorder. I love watching free running ink create its wobbly lines and bleed together with other inks or water to form its own organic color, but at other times, a pre-made stencil might dictate the forms on my canvas, and I will choose my colors explicitly. Finding balance between random events and purposeful action is the place of joy for me as an artist.
